Welcome

Welcome to the Valley Brief, an initiative of the Valley Chamber of Commerce. The objective of this news site is to keep property and business owners of Fortitude Valley informed and aware of the current and future directions and strategies for the area in terms of the Fortitude Valley Local Plan. Brisbane City Council will be finalising the Brisbane Local Growth Management Strategy in the second half of 2007 which will direct the future of the Fortitude Valley Local Plan, so it is our opportunity now to ensure the opinions of Valley Property and Business Owners is heard through ‘one voice’. The Valley Brief is that ‘one voice’. Thank you.

The Valley Chamber of Commerce seek your immediate attention to the following matter. We ask you to be involved in a Fortitude Valley Property and Business Owners survey. This will ensure your feedback and opinions are gathered and used to create ‘one voice’ from the Valley Chamber of Commerce to provide input to the current Brisbane City Council review of the Valley Local Plan. Please note the survey questions do not indicate any proposals for what could happen in the Valley, but is trying to draw out a range of views from property and business owners across a range of planning and development issues.

The Valley Chamber of Commerce survey deadline has been set as the 2 May 2007, so that we can form up a summary to take to the BCC Draft Precinct Plan on 4 May 2007.

A BRIGHT FUTURE PREDICTED

brightstar.pngFORTITUDE Valley is set to lead the way in innovative urban planning following a positive meeting between Brisbane City Council and key stakeholders.

Council’s Urban Renewal Brisbane has met with representatives of the Valley Chamber of Commerce (VCOC) Property Owner Committee and the wider community to discuss directions and future strategies for the area.

Urban Renewal representatives left the meeting indicating that further consultation will be undertaken to garner additional feedback to enable the development of a strategic plan to strengthen both the day and night economies of the Valley.

The Valley Chamber of Commerce has been actively involved in the collaborative process with Council to improve the day economy of the area through input into the detailed planning needed to manage long-term future growth of the Valley.
